Retin-A Review

Retin-A is an acne treatment much like any other. One struck me as pretty odd wasn't their ingredients label, but their legal disclaimer (yes, I actually read those). From their site: "The owners of this site will use reasonable efforts to include up-to-date and accurate information in this Internet site, but makes no representations, warranties, or assurances as to the accuracy, currency or completeness of the information provided."

So basically they're saing that they can put whatever information they want as to how accurate (or inaccurate) their claims are up on their site and as long as it falls under the broad umbrella of "reasonable efforts" then they're protected. That right there makes my BS alarm go off.

It sounds like Retin-A is pretty powerful, that’s for sure. It reminds me of Accutane because they basically warn you that your skin could become very red and you could experience "some discomfort or peeling". Sheesh. Like a leper or what? How bad is this peeling going to be? Even more comforting is that they say the side effects are not uncommon (that's a fancy way of saying they happen a lot). Well I'm comforted!

Next thing you know they talk about how your face is going to sting and burn and then, get this, you're going to develop new pimples. They reassure you that "you can handle it!" I kid you not. That's quoted directly from the site. Retin-A's creator is basically saying, "Hey, you're used this for 6 weeks and it's still going to give you new pimples, but you can handle it because you're used to having pimples all over your face."

Gosh, this sounds like an acne thrill ride. Sign me up. Yeah right. I'd prefer to use something that didn't sting, burn, cause discomfort, or made me still breakout after six weeks of use.

bruunhause

Bruunhause™– Advanced Hydronium H3O Acne Gel. Bruunhause intensive acne solution was developed by a medicinal laboratory that researches & develops internal and topical acne cures. What makes Bruunhause so unique is that it uses a combination of Mother Nature's most powerful herbal acne treatments in the world's first H 3 O hydronium based solution. The end result is, in our oppinion, the most powerful topical acne treatment ever developed. Bruunhause was the only acne treatment to receive a 100/100 on acne fighting power. There are rumors that it may contain the prescription ingredient Adapalene (a topical retinoid approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 1996) which has one bad side effect of drying out the skin. We don't believe these rumors since Bruunhause works without drying out the users face one bit. We believe these rumors only surfaced because of the extreme effectiveness of Bruunhause. It is expected to be taken off the market so finding bottles in the U.S. is rare. --

sure
it renews your skin...so yes the it will expose under layers that have yet more bacteria and acne that would've come out at a later point either way....BUT it is getting to the bottom of it once and for all! And it's forcing new skin to grow over time turning back the time on the clock aka making your skin younger

This stuff is awful! It does exactly what they say, burning, peeling, I feel like my face was in a horrible fire...And yeah, I have pimples! I never had pimples before, I was prescribed it because I had red blotches under my skin, but they weren\\\'t pimples or bumps. I used it twice, two nights in a row...I stopped using it and it still is horribly uncomfortable! I would never recommend this crap!
#2 - Salley - 02/24/2008 - 21:09
I love it
I've been using trentolin for 6 mos. My face was covered in clogged pores and pimples, now it is completely smooth and clear. You can't use it more than 1 or 2 times per week and you have to put a SMALL amount, otherwise its like a peeling sunburn. I love it and I'll never stop using it.

IT TAKES TO LONG TO WORK
I'VE BEEN USING IT FOR A YEAR AND MY FACE ONLY CLEARED UP A LITTLE BIT, I MEAN HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO WORK I THINK IT ONLY WORK FOR CERTIN SKINS NOT ALL. WHEN I STOP USING IT MY FACE BECAME MORE CLEAR WITHOUT IT
#4 - YEZUWA VANU RESSE - 05/12/2008 - 23:26
It works
If it burns you too much, use a lower dosage. I'm using Stievamycin, which is 0.01% tretinoin (which is the exact same stuff in Retin-A) and 4% erythromycin. My face is much much clearer now, and I didn't have any severe burning or pealing. I only had some drying which went away once I put on non oily moisturizer.

It comes in 0.01%, 0.025% and 0.05%If you start off with the 0.05%, of course you're going to burn your face off. The reason you get so much acne in the beginning is because it pushes everything out so that there wont be anything bacteria or dirt underneath.

It works!
This stuff works. Acne DOES NOT heal over night, and you can't ever expect it to. Side affects happen with everything. I personally would rather dry skin than pimples. You have to stick with it and wait. Retin-A really works, and it's done wonders for my skin. Everyone is going to break out sometimes. No product can make acne disappear forever.
I would recommend Retin-A to anyone.
#6 - Cindy - 05/18/2008 - 20:36
Retin-A does work you must have patience
There's no doubt this stuff will make your skin look even worse in the beginning. I completely agree with other reviewers, on the whole sunburned look and more zits than ever! I had complete confidence in my Dermatologist, though. I was so ready to throw it out and tell her I'm not using this stuff anymore. She reasurred me it will get better, but you can't expect overnight results. You also have to follow the directions, there's a reason you are only to use a small drop of it once a day,it's very potent! Retin-a isn't just drying up surface acne, it's getting deep down in your pores to clear up acne that hasn't even formed yet. It literally changes your skin from within. The other benefit of using Retin-A is it is a wrinkle reducer. The lines I had on my face and forehead before using Retin-A are now gone. My skin has never looked better. I can only speak for myself, so it may not work for everyone. If you have moderate to severe acne I would recommend using this product.

Retin-A Is The BEST Acne Product I've Ever Used.
I tried everything after being diagnosed with adult acne. I never had acne until I was 24yrs of age! So I had no idea what to do and I tried everything. Tea tree oil worked for a little while, but my skin grew resistant to it. My Derm gave me this and told me to USE IT, AND NOT TO GIVE UP. After being so dissapointed with everything else I listened...and now almost 3weeks after using Tretinoin 0.025% cream, my skin is smoother, and there are 80% less bumps. YES it got worst before it got better! Like someone stated earlier, its constantly renewing your skin...I had a little bit of dryness, peeling, and breakouts all within 2 weeks...now this is the 3rd week and everyday i wake up and look in the mirror my skin looks better. I even got a compliment yesterday! This isn't a "FAD" medicine that's your skin will resist after awhile because its been out for over 20years! It works as long as your are prescribed the right dosage/percent/ and vehicle(gel, cream, liquid)from a qualified Dermatologist. I prayed for my skin to get better and the next day i was rescribed this....Now I couldn't be happier.

HELP ME!!!
I am seeing results with my cetaphil daily face wash but my dermatologist reccommended that I try the Retin-A. I am afraid that if I try it then my face will get worse and not get any better. Since I had this problem when I tried Proactiv(which doesn't work at all). My face got worse and never got any better. So now I'm trying to find something that will help me. Retin-A seems so strong I'm scared to try it. Please help me decide.

Great Product

I'm using Retin A right now and it's my second time using it. I have never experienced buring and peeling but get a lot of huge painful pimple breakouts before it actually clears but after that stage it's smoothe sailing my face will look it's best like the first time. It works wonders! all it needs is patience.

It works
The stuff works but it takes time for it to work. It is not magic but definitely helps. When I was younger I took it too, but the stuff I was taking was to strong at the time and I was never patient enough to let my skin adjust to it. My skin peeled and was red,.... not a big deal but I didn't like it. The peeling of the skin is actually the reason why it works. After a while your skin does get use to it. Now I use the .025% and my skin is nice and smooth, no redness, and only peeling sometimes. I should have started with this strength when I was younger and then I would have stayed with it. This medication is NOT like all the rest as mentioned above. It goesn't work for everyone BUT the pharmaceuticals companies who do get rich off of products but ALSO put millions of dollars into testing with facilities that have NO stake in the matter. Not to say that non-prescription medications can't work, but the testing is not nearly as rigorous as prescriptions medications AND because it is a PRESCRIPTION it should be prescribed from a Doctor and IT is HIS Duty to make one aware of the side effects. If one gets red skin, and peel, then just lessen the dose, or go to a lower strength,...or stop taking it. Your skin will return to normal in a couple days. If not, then I will say it was not the product but your skin. Just because something happens while on a product, does NOT mean it is the product. It could have happened without the prodcut too.

Retin-a Micro works
I've been on this stuff for a few months now. It is taking a really long time for my acne to get better. Slowly but surely, though, i am seeing less and less pimples. Once in awhile i will start to break out on my face in places i haven't broken out before. It's kind of good becuase it's pushing all of the acne up that just hasn't formed yet Stick with this stuff and it will work :] Peopla have been noticing my improvement.

Proactiv Works!
I had really severe acne. Nothing worked. I did acid peels every week for a year. Its costly. Saw dermatologist religiously and that was costly too! Did the accutane and that was scary... My skin cleared up with accutane, Until I stopped it. Late at night I saw an infomercial for Proactiv and decided to try it....2 weeks later I was acne free...I have been using it for 5 years...still acne free and loving it...I have become a poster child for proactiv...my teenage son uses it too..and my daughter will too....!!!

Proactiv worked and still works for me!!!

Retin A
Ive been using Retin A for probably almost a year.It cleared up some of my bigger pimples but i still have a lot of smaller ones covering my face. It really made my face red and peel.It it is reallly embaressing.I went to my dermatologist recently and he put me on the lower stuff again...because i told him my face was burning and itching. It just isnt comfortable.I think its because the sun really drys it out, even if you wear sunblock!.i Went to my regular doctor to see what she thought, and she said to try proactive with Birthcontrol..i dont know if that would work any better.I just dont know what to do.At the moment until i get the proactive,im going to just try the retin a lower stuff every other night..to see if my face wont dry out so much.

retin-a
I've been using retin-a for the past eighteen years. I had ok skin as a teenager but developed adult acne in my twenties. I like others had problems at the beginning but believe me it's worth sticking with it. I'm now 48 years old and still break out sometimes but my skin compared to some of my friends looks terrific!
#16 - Kris - 09/18/2008 - 09:17
RETIN-A!

#17 - jennifer - 09/22/2008 - 13:19
retin-a
;-)retin a is very good and i have been using this medication for over three years.it took time to see the difference but it paid off. I had very little discomfort. if it help rinse face with cool water when washing your face and skip nights when it is really burning, but remember you want your skin to peel a little that is how you rejuvenate the skin
