Would do it again in a heartbeat!!!!

For my entire adult life (20 yrs - 40 yrs) I had adult acne. Didn't have it as a teenager but at around 20 it started. Nothing helped. I had anything from small pimples to large cysts or risens (sp?). There was never a time when I was pimple free during all those years. I tried everything. Was on prescribed antibiotics for over 6 years. They helped but did not clear up my acne which would be on my face, my neck, back, chest & arms. Mostly, the antibiotics helped me get a tan real fast. As a last resort, I tried Accutane. I started in Sept 2004 at age 41. I had my last "big" pimple in Nov 2004. I came off it in early Jan 2005. I've had only a few (less than 10) small pimples since then (it is now July 2008). I did not suffer any severe side effects. My lips were somewhat dry. My nose got dry w/in a couple of days of starting it but cleared up pretty quick. I did not have any mood swings.
The worst side effect I had was dryness in my nose--which I still have in the wintertime. All in all--it wasn't too bad & my acne is gone. If I had to do it again--I WOULD IN A HEARTBEAT!!!!

Accutane is the best acne product!

I used Accutane for 6 months and my acne (the small kiind and the red painful ones) all disappeared, and it has been over 8 years and I have no acne. However, I do get a few pimples during my monthly cycle. However, before Accutane, I was on 3 different types of oral antibiotics and have tried many prescription creams including Retin-A (which helped but the acne was very severe and came back) and peroxide and acylic acid and all of that. While on Accutane, I was warned that suicide and depression are side effects so my family watched for that and I would have to go get a blood test every month to make sure everything is ok. I would also peel from my whole body so I would literally put on vaseline all over my body, including my face and lips. While the side effects are great, this really helps severe stubborn acne. If your acne is not this bad, then do not take this. If it is this bad, then this medicine is the magic pill for acne. I am glad I took Accutane, but make sure to get blood tests and it is expensive so having insurance helps.

ACCUTANE IS THE BEST. AMAZING.

Side effects?? whatever.... i had nothing but dry lips with accutane. its okay if you want to wimp out when reading the side effects list--but if you want to get rid of your acne--TAKE ACCUTANE. I wasted three years of my life taking random perscription and over the counter crap and accutane cleared my up COMPLETELY in 7 months. i saw improvement after ONE DAY

Accutane

I was on Accutane over ten years ago when I was 18. After suffering with horrible cystic acne from the time I was about seven or eight, this was a MIRACLE drug. Nothing else even came close to giving me the results I got with Accutane. It was AMAZING! However, no that I have been off of it for a long time (I still have regular acne, just not the huge cysts like before), I think there were some side-effects I didn't notice before. I have lots of millia (like really hard whiteheads that don't go away), and I never had those before. Also, I think it made some of the pitted and rolling scaring worse. The acne I get now stays around a lot longer than what I had before. It is almost like my skin doesn't know how to heal itself now -- if that makes any sense? Of course, I'm older now and I'm sure my skin would be a lot worse today if I had never gone on it. Just wondering if anyone else that has been off Accutane for a long time had a similar experience. :-)

accutane

i was on accutane for one year and saw results within 1 month. my skin was clear, smooth, and perfect. everywhere i went i got at least 3 compliments a day on how beautiful it looked. not only was my face clear and smooth but the rest of my body was too! ive been off of it for almost a year now and my skin is still clear, i breakout some of the time but thats because accutane is slowly getting out of my system. the side effects are pretty dangerous, especially for women, so think it through.
