What is Somnatrol?

Somnatrol is an all natural dietary supplement used to treat the symptoms of insomnia, sleeping disorders, and sleep deprivation. Somnatrol is said to be just as effective as prescription grade sleeping pills at helping you quickly fall asleep and remain asleep through the night, while supporting the body’s natural sleep cycle. It is recommended that Somnatrol be taken thirty to sixty minutes before bedtime, so that the body can start to relax and relieve stress, and ultimately allow you to drift into a restful sleep.

Somnatrol contains Vitamin B6, Valerian root, Seratoin, Gamma amino butyric acid or GABA, Chamomile, Passion Flower, L-theanine, Lavender, and Melatonin. Somnatrol uses these ingredients in  a 2 stage process, stress reduction and restful sleep. 

In stage 1, or the stress reduction stage, Serotain works to boost levels of serotonin in the brain. This helps to create a calming effect in the body. GABA helps relieve tension and anxiety, and promotes feeling of calm and well being. L-theanine helps increase mental and physical relaxation. During stage 2, or the restful sleep stage, the remainder of the ingredients work to induce sleep. Melatonin, helps to supplement low levels of the same chemical in the body, to let us know it is time to sleep and to sleep all night. Chamomile, Passion flower, and Lavender are used to soothe, and calm the body.

Customer reviews for Somnatrol look great, and many people seem to be very satisfied with the quality of sleep they were able to receive when taking the supplement. There is no information available on the studies done by the manufacturer though, to prove the effectiveness of Somnatrol. A private company’s study found that while Somnatrol did help most of its participants fall asleep, some had to take 2 or 3 pills before any effects could be felt.

Somnatrol is available at health food stores and online. This supplement is pretty expensive and discounts may be available from online retailers. There is no website for Sterling Grant Laboratories, the manufacturer of Somnatrol.

Conclusion

Somnatrol does indeed seem to be effective at helping treat the symptoms of insomnia. It is however very expensive, especially compared to other competitive all natural sleep aids. Especially if you are one who needs several pills a night to achieve sleep with this supplement, it could break the bank quickly.

I do believe that Somnatrol is effective, and is possibly a very good alternative to harsher prescription drug formulas, but the high cost concerns me. If you are someone who requires help every night to achieve the sleep you need, I would recommend looking for something else. There are many all natural formulas available that have been shown to be very effective, at a significantly lower price.
